Investigator - full time / part time

Salary $85k - $95k + super (negotiable)

We are looking for people with experience in alternative dispute resolution, investigations and/or case management to join our extraordinary and close-knit team.

Your new organisation and role

The Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) (EWOV) is a not-for-profit, independent and impartial dispute resolution service. We provide Victorian energy and water consumers with free, accessible, and informal dispute resolution.

As an EWOV investigator, you will use your dispute resolution expertise to resolve complaints from consumers about energy and water providers, with a focus on reaching fair and reasonable outcomes. You will investigate, conciliate, and write assessments in relation to complaints.

This position offers full-time hours, with potential consideration for part-time arrangement for the right candidate.

Selection criteria – what you’ll need to succeed

  • highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills, being able to quickly identify key issues, seek information, apply relevant considerations and make sound evidence-based decisions
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarise issues and communicate outcomes clearly and logically
  • understanding of the concept of independence and the ability to work in a way that upholds the highest levels of impartiality
  • ability to be agile, juggle competing priorities and successfully manage a busy caseload to meet your targets
  • high level of professionalism, resilience and empathy
  • knowledge of the energy and water regulatory framework, or be self-driven to quickly learn
  • tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (highly desirable)
