The outer Melbourne suburban areas of Casey City, Wyndham City and Hume City recorded the highest gross numbers of cases in 2019-20. Greater Geelong City and Mornington Peninsula Shire followed with the next highest case count. These areas are all populated regions with relatively modest median weekly household income, as low as $1,244. Regional and rural areas figure highest in cases per 1,000 people. Central Goldfields Shire and Towong Shire each recorded 6.2 cases per 1,000 people. Overall, most areas in the state recorded lower cases this year compared to last year. This is significantly due to the drop in overall cases numbers in 2019-20. Towong Shire recorded the highest percentage increase in 2019-20, up 95% from 19 to 37. Towong Shire also recorded the highest case count per 1,000 people this year. With the exception of Melbourne City Council, high bill cases increased mainly in certain rural areas, however the case numbers are low.Please wait for the data to load.
