Estimated bills and meter access

A bill is estimated when there hasn't been an actual reading of the meter.

Customers may also be sent an estimated bill if they're on a monthly billing cycle —the meter is read every three months, so the monthly bills are estimates, which are reconciled against the quarterly meter reading.

In our experience—and, we understand, the experience of community workers—estimated bills can be inconvenient and worrying for customers.
Our new Fact sheet 14: Estimated bills and meter access is written to help customers understand their rights and responsibilities when it comes to meter reading—so they can avoid receiving an estimated bill in the first place.
