SI/2008/70

EWOV identified that customers who paid refundable advances to either the Gas and Fuel Corporation or the SEC prior to privatisation were unable to locate where their advance had gone.

EWOV investigated the matter and found out that if there is outstanding money that remains unclaimed for over 12 months, under the Unclaimed Money Act 2008, the retailers holding the money need to place a notice in the Victorian Government Gazette. If the money is still unclaimed, the funds are transferred to the Victorian Government's State Revenue Office (SRO).

Affected customers can then apply to the SRO in order to reclaim their money
